At the end of January 2016 the size of the fund had increased to R201m with a 3.9% return for the month of January.
This equates to a latest 12 month return to 31st January 2016 of 12.7% p.a. versus a -1.2% decline in the JSE All Share Index (including dividends).
The investment strategy of the Prosperity fund is to preserve capital and to take opportunities of obvious mis-pricings in the market.
Our latest winning investment was a position in global and local gold shares in December and January which we exited in late January 2016.
Currently the Fund is 100% in cash (earning 7% p.a.) as we search for the next investment opportunity.
Our target for the 12 months to September 2016 is to produce a return in excess of 12% (net of fees) whilst taking minimal risk.
